GSC@JR Academy

The Johnson Ranch Development Academy is a child-first program designed to introduce kids to the joy of soccer. Every boy or girl that steps on to the fields at Johnson Ranch can have fun. The Academy's primary focus is on developing successful players who can enjoy the game of soccer while improving their skills. All kids like to run and kick. Soccer is a natural extension of these 2 fun activities while at the same time teaching kids about teamwork, sportsmanship and control.

When the program began in 2005-2006, there less than 100 kids registered. Today, with the hardwork of the coaching staff and the volunteer coaches, we have more than 200 kids learning to love the game. The 2010 Winter season registration fee is $75 for the season.

The coaches are a combination of volunteers from the community and staff members from the Gilbert Soccer Club. Our coaching staff focuses on positive coaching techniques to help kids build character, self-esteem and athletic ability.

Teams are set based on age and skill-level. Small-sided games where there are less then 11 players per side are held on Saturdays at the Johnson Ranch fields. These small sided games for younger children allow more touches on the ball and a more successful soccer learning environment.
